EN/IEC 61000-4-2 is a test standard developed by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) for electrostatic discharge immunity testing. This standard revolves around the immunity requirements and test methods of electronic equipment that is subjected to static electricity discharges. The goal of IEC 61000-4-2 is to institute an acceptable basis for evaluating the performance of electronic equipment when exposed to electrostatic discharge that can be reproduced with accuracy. This is to include electrostatic discharges (ESD) that may be produced from personnel to objects that are near critical equipment. The standard describes the range of test levels, test equipment, test setup, test procedure, the typical waveform of the discharge current, calibration procedure, and measurement uncertainty. Waveform requirements include measurement parameters, risk time, peak current, current decay at 30ns, and current decay at 60ns.
Avalon Test Equipment carries a variety of test equipment from top manufacturers (Teseq, EM Test, Haefely, and more) to meet EN/IEC 61000-4-2 requirements. Rent or purchase from Avalon and Test With Confidence®.
Haefely ONYX 16 ESD Simulator/Gun, 16kV has been specially designed to meet all latest international standards, including IEC61000-4-2 edition 2, and are the most ergonomic battery and AC power operated 16kV guns on the market.
The Haefely ONYX 30 ESD Simulator/Gun, 30kV has been specially designed to meet all latest international standards, including IEC61000-4-2 edition 2, and are the most ergonomic battery and AC power operated 30kV guns on the market. Test with confidence®.
The EM Test ESD NX30 is an ESD tester to simulate ESD pulses at higher voltages up to 30 kV in both air and contact discharge mode. It satisfies requirements exceeding the EN/IEC 61000-4-2 test levels and complies with automotive test applications.
