Develops standards that offer protection of radio reception of >9kHz from interference sources such as electrical appliances of all types, the electricity supply system, industrial, scientific and electromedical RF, broadcasting receivers (sound and TV) and, increasingly, IT equipment (ITE).

European Organization for Civil Aviation Equipment (EUROCAE)

Develops performance specifications and other documents exclusively dedicated to the aviation community.

International Electrotechnical Commision (IEC) Standards

The international standards and conformity assessment body for electricity, electronics, and related technologies. The IEC is one of three related organizations that develop worldwide standards, the other two being International Telecommunication Union (ITU), and International Organization for Standardization (ISO).

International Organization for Standardization (ISO)

An international standard-setting body composed of representatives from various national standards organizations.

ITU Telecommunication Standardization Sector (ITU-T)

One of the three sectors (divisions or units) of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU); it coordinates standards for telecommunications.

Testing to European standards is important to US manufacturers to earn the CE mark (formerly the EC mark). The CE mark is a mandatory conformity marking for certain products sold within the European Economic Area (EEA) since 1985. The CE marking is also found on products sold outside the EEA that are manufactured in, or designed to be sold in, the EEA.

The CE marking is a declaration by the manufacturer that their product meets the requirements of all applicable EC directives.
