ISO 10605

ISO 10605 is a test standard developed by ISO (International Organization for Standardization) concerning test methods for electrical disturbances from electrostatic discharge in road vehicles. The purpose of this standard is to define test methods for electrostatic discharge (ESD) to evaluate electronic modules designed for vehicle use. This standard applies to ESD during assembly, ESD caused by service staff, and ESD caused by occupants. ISO 10605 defines the test procedures to be used when assessing both electronic modules on the bench and complete vehicles. The ESD sensitivity of modules for packaging and handling can be found in this test standard. ISO 10605 applies to all types of road vehicles regardless of the propulsion system. 

This standard requires the simulation of an electrostatic discharge into the electrical system of a vehicle. Electrical devices within a vehicle can be damaged by ESD.
