CS101 is a standard within the subcategory of conducted susceptibility under MIL-STD-461. This standard covers power leads testing in equipment with a frequency range of 30 Hz to 150 kHz and is pertinent to equipment and subsystem AC/DC (current draws under 100 amperes per phase) power leads, not including returns. The purpose of CS101 is to establish the capability of the equipment under test (EUT) to withstand signals coupled onto input power leads. The first of two methods for making measurements of the applied signal includes an oscilloscope with a power input isolation transformer. The second method uses a measurement receiver with a transducer. The use of the transducer is to electrically separate the receiver from the EUT power and weaken the signal levels to protect the receiver.
Test equipment needed under CS101 requirements:
CS109 is a standard within the subcategory of conducted susceptibility under MIL-STD-461 focusing on structure current susceptibility in equipment with an operating frequency range of 60 Hz to 100 kHz and operating sensitivity of 1 μV or better. This standard does not include handheld equipment. The purpose of CS109 is to test the capability of the EUT to withstand structure currents.
