RF preamplifiers are used during electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) testing to weaken the effects of RF interference and noise by amplifying weak electric signals captured by antennas. While testing for electromagnetic interference (EMI), a preamplifier should be placed as close as possible to the antenna to reduce feed line losses. Active antenna positioning is typically used in microwave systems due to coaxial cables experiencing high loss at microwave frequencies.

RF switches are used to complete RF switch and control tasks. They allow for seamless switching between signal paths.

RF directional couplers are placed between an RF amplifier and antenna or probe to allow for an RF power sensor to monitor the amount of power throughput. The power sensor is also able to establish if the measurements are accurate from the monitor or sensing probe and spectrum analyzer. This makes RF directional couplers an essential tool in radiated immunity test systems.

Avalon Test Equipment carries a variety of RF preamplifiers, switches, and directional couplers from top manufacturers (Keysight, Com-Power, and more) to meet your testing requirements. Rent or purchase from Avalon and Test With Confidence®.
