There have been test standards put into place by government agencies and globally recognized organizations for health and safety purposes. At Avalon Testing Equipment, our EMC and EMI compliance testing labs uphold these standards. The main categories consist of automotive, MIL-STD, CE Marking, and IEC standards.

Automotive testing has become more complex as the automotive industry moves forward with “smart” and autonomous vehicles. It is more important than ever to test automobiles for electrical, radiated, and magnetic interference. The goal is to test the components in order to eliminate EMI (electromagnetic interference) in automotive vehicles.

Military standard (MIL-STD) is used to ensure products meet certain requirements for the U.S. Department of Defense. The five types of defense standards include the manufacturing process, interface, design criteria, test method, and standard practices. Abiding by these standards allows for uniform engineering and technical demands unique to military requirements.

CE marking is used to indicate that a product meets the European Union's (EU) standards for health, safety, and environmental protection. The CE mark is a requirement for the distribution of a variety of products in the EU. Avalon's EMC/EMI compliance testing will help you meet the safety requirements to receive CE marking, which is not a standard, but rather a legal requirement of the EU.

The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) is the leading organization for preparing and publishing international standards for "electrotechnology" (electrical, electronic, and related technologies). Our EMC and EMI compliance testing labs use these standards to ensure the precise safety and performance of all of the electrical equipment that we test.

EM Test CWS 500N3 Test Generator

Key applications of the CWS 500N3 are in the automotive and aerospace area. Various international standards and MIL requirements call for magnetic field tests in the low frequency range. Apart from this the automotive industry requires conducted immunity tests with superposed sinusoidal signals on the DC supply voltage (ripple noise). For both applications the CWS 500N3 is the perfect equipment including everything in a single box, necessary for these tests. The CWS 500N3 meets requirements of SAE J1113-2, ISO 11452-8, DO 160D/E Section 18 and MIL-STD-461 D/E/F/G CS101, CS109 and RS101.

EM Test PFS 200N100 Power Fail Simulator 80V100A

The PFS 200N Series Automotive Power Fail simulator is used to comply with standard requirements, mainly from vehicle manufacturers, to perform fast voltage dips ad drops (micro-interruptions). Some standards specify very fast rise and fall times below 1 microsecond an electronic switch.

EM Test PFS 200N30 Simulator

The EM Test PFS 200N30 automotive power fail simulator for voltage dips and interruptions is used to comply with standard requirements including ISO 16750-2, mainly from vehicle manufacturers, to perform fast voltage dips ad drops (micro-interruptions). Some standards specify very fast rise and fall times below 1 microsecond an electronic switch.

Fischer BCICF-1 Bulk Current Injection Probe Fixtures

Part of the test equipment required by most of the Bulk Current Injection test procedure specifications. Allows the user the quickly and easily calibrate the injection probe prior to performing compliance testing.

Fischer BCICF-6-150 Bulk Current Injection Probe Fixtures

Designed for the IEC 61000-4-6 Ed 4.0, section 6.2.3.1 – 6.2.3.2 that states “…the increase of the transmission loss of the test jig, produced by the insertion of the Current Clamp, shall not exceed 1.6 dB”. This 1.6 dB requirement is verified by subtracting the insertion loss of the calibration fixture without the Clamp in place from the fixture insertion loss with the Clamp in place.

Fischer F-120-1 Bulk Current Injection Probe

The Fischer Custom Communications FCC F-120-1 Bulk Current Injection Probe has been designed to extend the use of conducted immunity testing over the bandwidth of 10 kHz – 175 MHz
